Need opinions on this skimmer

Are you just shopping price or quality? Are you running a sump? I find that most everything is over stated as to how many gallons the product will service. When you say your tank is not heavily populated, what does that mean. Myself, I would rather have quality.

How about a photo of your tank? We love photos! :)

Just looking at the design, it reminds me of several other skimmers. You may do best to stay away from it and save up for a much nicer one.

(Edit: not the one TJ mentioned, but the one in the OP link)

if you have a sump you should buy the biggest skimmer money can buy IMO..you can never over skim a tank..also skimmers double their rates so if its fit for 200 gal tank its really a 100 gal and so forth and so forth..best of luck

btw ASM is a great company

Thanks for the input guys. While I will need a giant super effective skimmer someday, I don't one right now, and I was just looking for something to use until then. I was looking for more along the lines of if anyone has ever used it, whether it breaks after a day, shoots tons of microbubbles, etc.

But, I'm feeling brave. I'm going to pick up a 530gph, 150g rated model. When it comes next week I'll have to come back and let you guys know whether my gamble got me a good deal on a skimmer or if I hurled it at the wall.

Thanks!

I vote with Dee. I have had many. Octopus, Tunze, Coralife and the one I absolutely love is the ASM, I have the ASM-G2 and think it's great. Buying a little bigger (within reason) than you need is a smart way to go if you think you may upgrade. You only spend the money once.
