Hi, im pretty new to fishkeeping and havnt had mine for too long. Ive currently got normal gravl in the tank and i want to mix sand in with it. How would i go about doing this? Ive cleaned the sand a ton and tried putting a few scoops in the water and it got litle cloudly. So i have been cleaning it out for like a couple hours now, seems to be fairly clear. It's black moonsand so just the smallest dust/grit in it seems to make the water fairly clouded. Also wonding how to remove the clouds, aswell as *** the rest of my sand.

(also im sure i shouldnt have but when i did *** the little bt of sand i did so with fish still in tank, should o remove them before addin the rest? Prob' the better way to do it.)

Oh and cleanin the sand wit tap water has me a lil worried so im going to the extreme to boil it :hitting:. any tips/adive on the matter would be great.

even if its perfectly clean, when u add it to a tank with water its gonna fog a little, just add it to the spots you want, spread/mix it with the gravel evenly, disturbing the gravel will cause some ammonia with all the poo, so mix it, then do a bigger than normal water change, and itll clear up with in a couple hours

K. Just a recap on water changing, since ive yet to do so. (only had my fish for like 2weeks if that, i dunno how much poop they been doing :P got 15 tetra's in a 50gal, with a wistra and 2 other plants)

So for a large change how much should i remove? after removed i dechonrinate my new stuff and add it right? how long does the dechorine stuff take? :)

A 50% WC should be fine. Not sure what you are using for a dechonrinate but I use Prime and you dont have to wait. Whatever you are using make sure to add the recommended amount to the amount of water you are putting in, and its better to add a little more of the declor than less.

Btw since you have only had your tank 2 weeks it is in the process of cycling so watch out for an ammonia spike. Some tetras can be very sensitive to the spike.
