lol. and now that i have your attention, let me tell you the tale of the noise that made me jump......
sitting here on the lappy, being a facebook junkie (see, not every moment of my ninternet time is here on AC, really it isn't......lol) and i hear this twack-thunk sort of noise. immediately i get up to go to the tanks, meanwhile watching the water line on both 55's and fully expecting to see one of them lower rapidly....... when i look down. a blue brigg.
i had taken my last adult blue out of the planted tank a little while ago this evening and placed him/her (?) on the glass lid of the neofinnatal unit. this snail had been hiding in his shell for a few days and i was getting worried. my usual course of action when a snail coops itself up for more than a couple days is to take it out and put it on a damp surface for awhile. usually i use a tub, with sides, lol. my theory for blue hiding may have been blue's decision to tuck up and go dormant or whatever term is used, as all my adult briggs had just finished a long period of heavy snail love, lol, and egg laying, and perhaps blue just needed a good long nap..........
anyhoo, i guess blue finally came out of their shell and had gone over the side of the tank in their ventures. once i saw blue there on the floor, upside down, i thought for sure a cracked/broken shell! well nope, that shell must be made of kevlar or something, lol, because there wasn't even a chip on the edge. and my floors are merely lino glued to concrete!
and just for anybody worried about blue, they're fine, cruising around the neofinnatal unit like nothing happened. and yes, i will keep a close eye on lil kevlar snail, lol, for the next lil bit.
so there's my story of the noise that made me jump. share yours!
