I've been thinking of adding more fish to my 20 gal, but I need some opinions. I originally wanted to just get more rummies to increase the school size, but after reading posts, I'd also like to get khulis too if I can. Which one think is better, or can I do both without it being overstocked?

20 gal inhabitants:
1 male betta
5 rummy nose tetras

Also, are there any issues w/ bottom dwellers and cleaning sand? Do khulis burrow? (Don't want to accidently hurt them when stirring up sand)

Thanks a bunch, appreciate your thoughts.

Sounds fine to me. I have gravel, but I do think they will burrow in sand, so I'd just be careful. The good thing is they'll do some sand stirring for you.

I love my kuhlis. :D

Both sounds good to me too. I have kuhlis on pool filter sand & they don't burrow. Mine prefer rock caves & hanging in plants. 5-6 loaches & 3 more tetras would be fine.

:iagree: Get both! Kuhlis are awesome and are fun to watch! However you have to get at least 4, I would get more! Mine love the piece of drift wood I have in the tank, and almost everytime I check out the tank one is poking its head out of a crack/hole!

Awesome, thanks guys. I'll be looking into getting 3 more tetras and 5 khulis then. :) Probably going to use pool filter sand, seems to take less washing. Is a depth of 1inch or so good?
