I purchased an electric blue ram for $30 plus $15 for shipping.. it is eating TONS and growing great.. which leads me into the problem, it's beating up my longfin rams! unacceptable! I do believe this is a female.. or a very late blooming male as she is certainly the size of my other rams.. if not bigger and has no longer dorsal fins. The bottom line.. she needs a new home, I am asking $40 shipped priority

Please forgive my photo taking abilities! My goodness this fish would not sit still.. but here are some pics anyway =)

This one I tried to use the flash to see how it would work.. beautiful actually!

That's a female. By the looks of it in the second picture you have a male that is interested in her so I don't know why you are getting rid of her. I'd separate them into their own tank and do a water change. I can see some of her ovipositor so if you did do a water change with cooler water I'd expect to see eggs within a couple of days.

I don't think that's enough.. but I do know someone who is SURE he has a male electric.. maybe I should rethink.. I don't know.. I just hate to see my fish getting tormented like this =(

Maybe if you move everything around in the tank? I've heard that can help, b/c then she won't feel like its HER territory she has to defend.

I would put her in the 10 gallon. People use 10 gallons as breeder setups all the time. At least for the time being. holy cow 17 rams what size tank is that?

oh i do remember seeing that thread. so if it's just until they pair up keep her in the 10 gallon. When your friend gets you the male put them together. Eventually you can put them back in the big tank when most of the long finned ones are gone.

I'm guessing the female was already paired and isn't goint to accept any other males. That's typical behavior that I've seen with some of my breeding pairs when a male dies.

A 10g tank is perfectly fine for a pair of rams.

Well, I hope that's not the case.. I mean she looks to be rather young, right along with my others.. but I guess I didn't think a 10g would be enough.. so that might be exactly what I'm going to do.. altho, it seems that catching her will be a whole different story =\ she seems to be pretty net shy.. all the others just come and swim right up into it.. but nope, not her *sigh*

I'm sorry, I guess for the time being I am going to keep her and try to get her a boyfriend and see if that makes her happy.. I mean, maybe she just doesn't like long hair? lol :p:

I remember the days when I had 8 young blue rams growing together with a 2-yr old blue ram.:goldfish:

Glad you're keeping it, Temptress.:bowing:
