I don't know what I was thinking, but somehow I ended up buying Madel Maracyn for Saltwater! I noticed the tank has a yellowish color to it, so I wasn't sure if I read the instructions right about dosing every 24 hours, so when I went to re-read the instructions I saw that this medication is meant for saltwater tank! What a waste of $20.

Should I do a large WC? Will the yellow color dissapear? Would that have happen even with the proper medication? Is this a risk to my fishes health?

I feel so dumb for not noticing this at the store.:(

Don't feel dumb, mistakes come easy in this hobby. I'd do a WC and put some carbon in the filter if you have some (and it isn't in there already). Maybe plan on doing another WC tomorrow. Good luck!

Got Carbon in there. Only about a week old since I swapped filter media a week ago to get rid of the copper from the ich medication.

I'm googling around right now, and apparently the difference between Maracyn Two Saltwater and Freshwater is that the Saltwater version has more vitamins and a stronger does of minocycline. Does anyone know if Maracyn is similar in this regard? If it is the nI can just change the dose to fit a freshwater tank versus a saltwater tank.

I found this on the Petsmart website:

Freshwater:
Active Ingredients:
Each tablet/powder packet contains 200 mg Erythromycin activity

Saltwater:
Active Ingredients: Each tablet contains 400 mg Erythromycin activity; 15.00mg Pantothenic acid, 8.60 mg Riboflavin, 2.60 mg Thiamine mononitrate, 2.60 mg Pyridoxine hydrochloride.

The description mentions that the saltwater version contains vitamins to help with appetite. Are the other active ingrediants safe for Freshwater fish? I see that the main ingredient (Erythromycin) is double in the saltwater version. Should I just dose half the amount recommended for my freshwater tank? Or are the other active ingredients present in the saltwater version bad for my freshwater fish?
