I am trying to cut some aggression out of my tank. I purchased 2 GBR's when they were still juvenile's. Well now that they have grown out I realized I missed and got 2 males. So I am looking to trade a male for a female. I also have a Dwarf Flame Gourami, same reason. 2 Male Dwarf Gourami's don't get along. So if someone has a female GBR and wants a male or someone just wants my Dwarf Flame Gourami let me know. The flame is in a QT tank right now because I came home from work today and he almost killed my dwarf gourami. The rams don't fight as bad so they are fine for now. The Gourami I want to move asap because I have fish coming thursday that need that QT tank. The rams I am going to wait until I find a trade if not just keep them. I prefer local since this would be a no money transaction it's kinda stupid to pay shipping. Plus I have never shipped a live fish and don't have any supplies to do it.

Here is the GBR with the flame in the background

Here is a better picture of the gourami. The flame is the more aggressive one and can even chase the rams sometimes so I would like to move him.

I might be a total newb so don't take my word for it.. but I don't think that ram is a male.. someone else should chime in soon =)

Hmm...I would have said that is a female too. Judging from the dorsal fin. Do you think you could get a better pic of one with its bottom fins out more? If they are short it is a female.

looks like a female to me also.
where did you get them??
i live in the west suburbs(wheaton)
she looks great!

My zip is 60169. That picture is at least a month old.

Here is some new pics of the rams. They have aggression towards each other and both have the taller first 3 spikes of the doral fin. Specifically the 3rd fin is the tallest. They get more color every day as I got them from a breeder in lindenhurst, IL as juveniles. If anyone can tell me what they are looking at when they try to figure out the rams. I have read like 10 articles on sexing rams and every one says something different. Some say the spot on the side, some say the pectoral fins, some say the dorsal fins. All I know is the cichlid breeder by my house said it's the first 3 spikes of the dorsal fins and thats the only way to tell.

The top picture of the three, the one on the left looks like a female to me. But I may be wrong. The other looks more like a male. But then again if that were so there most likely wouldn't be fighting.
