what wattage for a 29g do you think i should get? i was thinking about a 100watt ebo-jager, but reconsidering towards a 150watt? think that would be overkill? thanks

A good rule in 3-5 watts per gallon, depending on the temperature difference between your tank and where it is kept. I don't think a 150 watt would be overkill for a 29g.
Best option is to get two half-capacity heaters, so in your case, getting two 75w heaters is better than getting one 150w heater. According to the table I have, 150w worth of heaters should allow you to cover around 20F temperature differential (temp difference between the tank and your room temperature). So if your room is cooler by larger amount, you will need more heating power, otherwise 150w of heater(s) should be sufficient.
