Hi everyone,
I really need some help figuring out what could be wrong with my 4 year old Gold Midas Cichlid (peach in color). I've heard her from day one, I baught her from a lil mom and pap shop when she was about 2 inches long. She is now 4 years old, and a foot long. She is housed in a 55 gallon tank (alone because she eats anything and everything lol).

I noticed about 3 days ago that she was getting flaky scales and she also has what looks like brusing on her bottom side right under her chine and gill area. Her fins look like there flaky also. She has never had this happen before, and Im worried that something might be REALLY wrong with her. Id really like to know anything about this, if there is anyone that could help me out. Im really fand of this fish, she eats out of my hand and plays with me every day. I also have her trained to kiss me threw the tanks glass. Could anyone please try to fill me in on whats going on, or how to make it better for her.

Thank You :uhoh:

:welcome: to AC, Angel!

I am sorry to respond late regarding your issues. Could you please answer the following questions? Adding more information helps a lot and quicker to address the issues.

1. What are your water parameters? State the brand of test kit used.

2. What temperature is the tank water currently?

3. What filter are you using? State brand, maintenance routine and power capacity.

4. Any other equipment used (aside from heater and filter which are two very important components of the tank)?

5. Does your aquarium receive natural sunlight at any given part of the day? What is your lighting schedule (assuming you do not rely on sunlight for our viewing pleasure)?

6. When did you perform your last water change and how much water was changed? How often do you change your water? Do you vacuum the substrate?

7. What foods do you provide your fish? What is the feeding schedule?

8. What unusual signs have you observed in your fish?

9. Have you treated your fish ahead of diagnosis? If so, what treatments did you use? State your reasons for planning ahead of proper diagnosis.
