what size is the tank, how long has it been up, when was your last water change, what is your maintenance schedule, what fish/inverts/plants/decorations/etc are in the tank?

all good questions by coach

shredded fins are usually the result of poor water or aggression.

what temp do you keep the tank at?

ok tank mates are one female krib (male died), a leopard pleco, a featherfin catfish, a lemon bristle nose, a spotted cory cat, and 3 emerald corys. the tanks a 70 or 75 i forget which. temp is 78 at night and 80 most of the day. i have two large pieces of driftwood. two amazon swords, a water lily, and a tigar lotus plant and i do 20% water changes everyother weak, and top it off every friday. i test p.h. once or twice a week, i only test ammonia and others when somethings wrong or when a fish die. and the tanks been up for almost 4 months. any ideas anyone?

What are you using to test?

liquid tests i got them at the local pet store but i'm out of everything but p.h tester and ammonia tester so i've just been taking a bottle to the lfs and having them test and she said that everything was in order she evan double tested my p.h. and ammonia for me.

I only trust my own test kit..

I would suggest you get your own test kit and test the water.

agression and water quality are about the only real contributing factors when fins are damaged.

have you checked the ammonia and nitrites in this case since there is something wrong?

well lost another one, tested water everyother day (finaly got more tests everything was fine), did extra 20% water changes every 4 or 5 day instead of every two weeks. so all that i can come up with is aggression?
