I had gotten a reccomendation by a friend to get the Marine Magnum 350 Pro system (the one with the Bio Wheel). I was wondering if n e 1 on the AC had been using it and how they liked it. It would be either for a 55 gallon or a 75 gal. I'm still trying to look on craigslist for some good deals. Additionally I was probably going to get a hang on back filter if I got the 75. Are they good filters?

I have a Mag 350 standard I use on my 120 and it has kept my aquarium very clean. As far as bio wheels go I prefer them as part of an HOB filter so in addition to my Mag 350 on one side I have a Penguin 350 on the other side. This gives me the bio wheels with a backup filter separate from my Mag 350, for maintenance without shutting both down at the same time. Haven't used the Mag 350 bio wheel option but it looks like neat addition.
Other then that the Mag 350 is an excellent filter with it comparatively huge 96 square inch surface area sponge filter sock which allows over 30 days between cleanings. The carbon basket can be a bit messy used as is. Recommend you buy some nylon filter bags to hold the carbon so that tiny gravel size bits can't escape making cleaning a whole lot neater.

I've got several 350's. They are rock solid. Hopefully your find on cl will include all the parts. The quick disconnects placed 4 and 7 inches above the filter intake and output are needed for ease. The second on I got off cl did not have them and made cleaning difficult. My 75 has one on either end. One runs the micron cart. with a tight sponge prefilter and the other just the filter sleeve. No carbon with planted tanks. Let me know if you need any parts, I've got plenty, including bio wheel stuff.

i buy just the magnum bio wheel pieces off ebay when i find them seperate and hook them to a powerhead and you have a instant bio wheel to hang on new tanks to help get the cycle speeded up. and the sponge on the power head also filters the water its a win win set up.
