fire eel opinions.

im new, and i HOPE this is the right section to post this in.
anyways, im looking to get a new fire eel this weekend. and i was wondering, whats your opinion on them? everything i've read has all been positive. have you had any negative experiences?

anything you can share with me about this will be extremely helpful, as i am looking for a long-term companion. :D thank you so much or reading my thread!

I had a fire eel years (I won't tell you how many:) ) ago when I was in college, I had him as a single specimen in a 65 gallon tank, at first he hid all the time, but after a month or two he became very active, and eventually got to the point where he would eat out of my hand. Mine loved black worms, bloodworms, fish fillets and OSI algae tablets. the tank set up was about a half inch of pool filter sand, a large DW root, and a 20" section of 1 3/4" pvc.
