could i put conformable 2 nics, 2pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi, and 6 odessa barbs and somthing els in a 55

help yo

I think the male (nic) might find the tank a little confining when he grows out.

Had to look up the other fish... West Africa... Really beautiful! Dietary issues? Most Africans can't tolerate high protein diets, and the nics are going to need that. Also, the nics are going to get a lot bigger, and beside the aggression during breeding, the male nic may decide that the Africans look tasty.

I tend to be conservative in stocking, and I think a 55 with a (breeding?) pair of nics is pretty much maxed out as far as cichlids are concerned.

To begin with, you won't be able to house 2 male nic's in a 55. I tried it, and had to move one out. They are relentlessly conspecific aggressive, and the weaker fish will die if you leave it there too long. I currently have a single male nic sharing a 75 with several male Victorian Hap's (they're about evenly matched, though the Vic's aren't as hard on each other as the nic's were), a pair of chanchito's that nobody bothers and vice-versa, and a group of Synodontil multi's.
Incidentally, both the Victorian Hap's and the nic killed off their females w/out producing any fry. The Vic's I could understand, sort of, because I had 6 males and only 2 females. The nic's were 1m/3f , but the males are just outright psycho IMO.

and in my case the female is the bigger one and the agressor, so what breeding pair could i put in the tank that is not to common, looks good and gets a good size like 6-7 in, and active

I could hook you up with some chanchito's. These are Australoheros oblongum, the smallest of the family. The male is about 4.5-5", stll has a little growing to do, but won't get much larger. I have a couple dozen juvies around 1.5", and 6 larger ones from earlier spawns that will be pairing off soon. The breeding pair mixes well with the male nic, and pretty much everything else I've seen them live with as well. They spawned in a 30 long with BN pleco's, and kept both the ramshorns and the pleco fry well-controlled. After I moved the breeding pair out I had hundreds of ramshorns and pleco fry.
Here's a pic of the parents, the light that was on the tank really doesn't show their colors very well:

Here's one that shows the blue spangles better:
