Ok so i am looking for rock for my africa chiclid tank. I really like tufa and lace rock the most but can't find any for a fair price. But I did go to a landscape supply company today. And they have this stuff called florida cap rock and I have a few pieces in my tank now. It is a limestone with shell and that in it but the draw back is that its heavy. but it is only 10 cents a pound. has anyone out there used this stuff?

I see no problems but be careful with weight displacement...egg crate along the bottom of the tank would help distribute it evenly although I assume you already have some sort of substrate? If so make sure at the very least that your tank is properly supported by your stand, and nothing is left hanging off the sides. Otherwise you will get pressure points and the weight could cause cracks.
You'll probably be fine unless your tank is completely filled with rocks but you can never be too safe.

Limestone is good as pH buffer for African rift lakes cichlids tank. As jpappy said, use an egg crate in the tank's bottom and put the rocks directly on the egg crate to then create pile(s). Finally add the substrate. This way, you don't have to worry about weight. I have around 150 lbs of heavy river rocks in my 55gal tank. No problems at all for a full year now.
