I have had my tank set up for about 2 weeks. (50 gallon, with Fluval biolife filter, Juwel filter, and prism skimmer)

I have had 10 KGS (22 Lb) of Live rock in the tank and it had 20 lb of live sand added.

I have not as yet noticed a significant increase in anything.

My ammonia is about 0.25ppm - 0 (difficult to read colours) and my Nitrite is about 0.25ppm - 0 (again colours are awkward to read). My nitrate is at about 20ppm.

I was expecting a spike but it has never gone higher than 0.5ppm for either.

Should I add my own ammonia or do you think a couple of hardy fish should go in.

I dont want to hurt the fish or cause them undue stress. Any tips on trying to spike the levels etc.

Thanks again :)

My guess is that the bacteria in your live rock were active enough to prevent a huge spike. I also expect that you will have measurable NH3 for a little while, and NO2 for a few weeks. If it were my tank, I'd wait and see what happens.
