Ok so the main title says it all. I am running into a little problem with some sort of bug, that lives its life on my aquatic plants that are at the surface of the water. It does not seem to hurt them but it isn't very nice to look at so i need help in getting rid of them.
Here are some pics that have been taken of th culpret bug.

Erm, they didn't show up.

Could you give us a description of the bugs?
Many of them are common and we can easily identify them.

WOW. That's what I was about to say, but i've never seen these before.

Here's the image of the bugs.

* Just found this site, might want to check it out.

my 1st thought is excel there butt, then id go hydrogen peroxide to see if that kills them.

go to www.plantedtank.net (http://www.plantedtank.net) and post this in there plant forums theres alot of people there who know bugs well if you cant get an answer here soon.

Let us know if you do find the answer elsewhere!

Looks like they have 6 legs- so they're probably an insect as opposed to a mite or a spider.

What kind of fish may ignore such a feast?

I actually wondered the same thing...

Are there fish in the tank... odd that they would pass up on such a dining plate.

Wow.....yuck. I really hope you find out what the bug is. And can you please share more information, thereafter. Like where you got the plant? When did these bugs appear? And how long you've had them?

They dont seem to like water. Here is another pic of the animals. Can you tell me if there might be two bugs living on the plants.

Ahhh... that looks a lot different than the first photo- much clearer.

So they're not actually below the water line- they're ABOVE the water line? That explains why fish arn't eating them... it's probably more of a general terrestrial plant pest than an aquatic one- probably just a coincidence it's in your aquarium.

Definately looks like an insect of some kind. If I'm seeing wings not shadows- that looks like a fly of some kind.

You might get more help from a gardening forum- they're probably more familiar with them.

I got the same bugs, i believe they are aphids and mites. The only way to get rid of them is by manual removal.Funny, the only thing thats eats them are lady bugs and i have a couple that have been sticking around
