I recently started volunteering at my local Aquarium in one of the freshwater sections. I love it because I get to take care of huge fish that I love but could never have for various reason (Legality, size, money, etc..). All for free! :headbang2: Yay for Piranhas and RTC. Not to mention I'm helping the aquarium, which is helping the world with all it's conservation efforts and stuff like that.

So, does anyone else here volunteer anywhere? Places that are animal related or really just anywhere?

Sounds like fun!

When I was younger I use to volunteer at a raptor rehabilitation center and a fish hatchery near me.

i've been wanting to volunteer. How do you go about it? submit a resume? lol Or more informally, just call or what? Ads?

I volunteered at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for several years. It was pretty cool.

I volunteer but not for animals. I work at the senior center and I also go to a convalescent facility to spend time with the residents and let them tell the stories that make them happy. It never hurts me to sit and listen. I also end up learning a bit of history at times. Talking to the residents is thrilling. Everyone should try it sometime.

Once I get my leg worked on (for good or bad) I will be spending time with one of the local veterinary hospital.

I used to volunteer for the local sheriff's office as a victim's advocate. I met some of the coolest people doing that work.

Just call around your area. Most places are always looking for volunteers to help out. I know that the one animal shelter near me is always looking for people to help clean cages, walk dogs and donate food/supplies.
