Fish noses disappearing

Hi,

A few months ago I noticed a problem in my tank, a problem with a lemon tetra. It's nose disappeared--you could quite clearly see the fishes teeth with nothing covering them. Now I have the same problem with my apisto. Any ideas as to cause or treatment?

water parameters? high ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate can all contribute to problems such as these.

also, do you notice any aggression between the fish in your tank?

I haven't noticed any agression issues...
