Hey,
I am planning on getting a Marineland c-160 for my (not setup) 20 gallon long (which will be planted) I want to know what extra media I need to get for it. Thanks for you help!

More of the ceramic cylinders it comes with and I use extra floss in the trays.

I think the c-160 only comes with the bioballs. You have to step up to the c220 to get the ceramic tubes.
It comes with filter sponge on the bottom, next tray has a bag or two of carbon, and the top tray has bioballs, and then a polishing pad on top i think. In my c220, the extra tray is on top with the ceramic tubes, and then the polishing pad on top.
I've stopped using the carbon, as i was only using it to remove some tannins from the water. Now i've got the filter sponge, polyfil, bioballs, ceramic tubes, and polishing pad, in that order, bottom to top.

So... you could put some of those tubes in the middle tray, and forsake the carbon bags. Or polyfil (floss). Up to you. I'd reccommend some extra polishing pads though. You can rinse out the filter sponge for a long time and keep reusing it.

So only a couple of polishing pads? I don't need to get bio balls? or should I? Hahaha sorry for all the questions!

P.S I shoulden't use carbon correct?

c160 comes with the bioballs, but not the ceramic tubes....
Carbon is preferential. I've only been using it occasionally to remove tannins from newish driftwood. Also used it months ago to remove some medication. If you don't use the supplied carbon with the c160, you can use filterfloss, or tubes, or some other chemical filtration means.... You've got three filter trays to work with. Foam in the bottom, bioballs in the top, other (your choice) in the middle.

Ok as of now (I just ordered it) will I need to buy extra Bio-balls NOW? I'll decide on the other filter media later...

did the seller say that it didnt come with bioballs?

This is what he said about media:

At the very top is a Polishing Filter Pad to trap the fine debris to increase water clarity. Filters come complete with filter floss, filter foam, carbon bags, and bio-filter balls.

I would wait and get it and see what/how much you need. They must have switched...my 160 came with cylinders, but it is pretty old.
