i have been told 2 different things so im confused as to what is the correct thing to do.
method 1 do nothing to the tank no water changes no nothing till it cycles.
method 2 daily water changes.
as of yet ive done nothing. also light feeding ... and these little ones dont like that lol. i also have ich on two of the fish I have increased the heat and want to start salt. I'll wait to see what you all suggest.
my water params are Ph= 7.8 Nitrite=.25 ppm Nitrate = 10 ppm Amonia =1.0 ppm. i dont wanna make these guys more uncomfortable than they allready are :( they all are active and have great appetites.

When cycling with fish, I use method two.
Daily water changes if needed, to keep both ammonia and nitrites under .25 ppm.
You will still have a good cycle time, and less stress on the fish.

okie dokie as soon as i get off work water change hmm what is a good % for a 36 gallon

OK just did a 50% wc haven't tested yet today I bought some Ich attack but didn't realize it says to remove carbon from the filter ... can I do this while cycling ?
Im gonna say a little prayer ...
Dear lord give us this day our daily cycle forgive us our infestations as we forgive those who infest against us

You can use the ick attach during the cycle process.

Not sure if you are familiar with the heat treatment for ick, its my preferred method for ick removal.

Stress from ammonia and nitrites can make fish vulnerable to ick, so water changes and keeping the tank as free of ammonia and nitrites as possible, is going to help with this ick problem.

be careful how much salt you add.. i believe it was the main cause of wiping out all 8 of my tiger barbs. i did the recommended 2 teaspoons per gallon on this site. so i'd do less than that to be safe.

ive been doing WC to dilute the salt, but after 5 days i think my tigers are so damaged, their time is over (theres 2 left, and theyre not looking good)
