I have 4 tetras in 10 gallons tank, had them for a year.
lately i start to experience two issues what i suspect are connected.

issue-1

All tetras are keep moving there mouths. kinda resembling heavy breathing.
It couldn't be oxygen -- it's only 4 of them in the tank. And air filter seem to be working all the time.
They seem to stop eating - i tried 4 different types of food including the kind they ate before. they show interest but not taking it.

issue-2

green slime keep growing rapidly. water become cluttered and stinky very quickly. walls are covered with it . Here are the things I'm trying :

Clean walls rocks and accessory (no live plans)
Replace water often (25% - 30% at the time)
Algae treatments
PH stabilizers
Salt (according to instructions)
Replace filter cartridge
Ammonia and chlorine removing conditioner
Test shows what PH is 6.5 and amonia is normal

Could you please post what exactly your water parameters are particularly ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? Those are extremely important. For one thing, ammonia and nitrite are toxic especially the former when your water is alkaline which fortunately your pH isn't so we can rule out the ammonia possibly elevating its toxic effects unless your test kit may be faulty in which case I would like to ask what brand of test kits you also used.

What filter media was replaced and why? What did you replace it with? I certainly hope you did not throw all the old filter media to the bin and simply got new ones as it is likely your tank's nitrogen cycle may struggle to stabilize itself.

I also notice you used pH stabilizers. Please refrain from using those as they are undoubtedly very unnecessary. You won't need those so f I were you, chuck them to the bin and forget all about them. The only chemicals I would advise using are the dechlorinators covering both chlorine and chloramine. Anything else is not necessary.

What brands of algae killing chemicals did you use? Note that a lot of these chemicals contain copper sulfate which can harm and kill your fish, invertebrates and even plants. They will cause imbalance in your tank ecosystem. Those chemicals are not advisable for use and best dumped to the bin as well.

Right now, I would advise doing a large water change if your fish are still gasping to minimize the problems as much as possible.
