I am stumped on a fish to stock my ten gallon with, current stock is ramshorns, mts, bladders and trapdoor snails, and cajun dwarf crayfish.
It needs to be a mid watter or top water fish that is freshwater and stays under for inches. any recomendations are welcome no matter how odd, want something odd, interesting or has personality must also be inexspensive. also must be ok with some current. thanks all

Also has to be temperate water.

oh, temp as of now is 86 and can get to low 70fs.

Ghost cats enjoy a good current and don't get much larger than 3". You might consider some Yellow Banded (Lamp Eye) Tetras, or a nice school of Hatchets. Killies are very pretty too lol. I could go on for ever :P

biji please go on, iam new to the small fish world.

Haha ok. :woot:
Hatchets are wonderful fish and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Killies and Paradise fish are beautiful and in my opinion are well under appreciated in the fish keeping trade. You could go w/ balloon belly Mollies (I think they are cute), or other small live bearers.
There are many varieties of Rainbow fish that stay small and look sexy.
Another option is "Glofish". Zebra Danios are hardy as sh*t and these transgenic versions look awesome in standard lighting.

from searching it seems that all the info i get is that the fish you listed for my for ten gallons can't handle 86f tank. are they wrong is there a fish that is top to middle water dweller that can take temps of 68f to 86f.

paradise fish will attack my dwarf crays when they aare soft after hey molt is their another fish that handles 68f-86f that isn't agressive and will live for life in a 10 gallon. thanks anyway.

Hi Aquaculture,

I moved your thread here so you will get better responses here than in the other section as it also concerns compatibility of your inverts.

Not sure about the temperature swings but I really enjoy my Harlequin Rasboras. Top to mid level, schooling, beautiful coloration. Havn't seen them take any intrest at all in my snails, amanos, or ghost shrimp.

Note: They really seem to color up well after you get them home from the pet store and give them a good diet. After a week or so of quality tropical flake food and frozen bloodworms they have a beautiful orange/red hugh.
