I think it would be the 10 gallon. Most people probably at least start with one and keep it.

I would say a 10 gallon actually, but 30 and 55 are also quite common.

Starter kits are quite popular. They come in 10, 20, 29 and 55 gallons. I think 10 gallon is the most popular because a lot of new people to the hobby will choose a 10 gallon tank to start.
10g is the most common i think by far, but for a lot of hobbist 55 is a standard size

the reason for the question is because my friend and i where trying to find what tank and stand a canopy set up would sell the best, and we where hopping for 29 or 30l but a 10 is kinda small to do the hole shabang with

10s are the most popular without a doubt.

10s are probably the most popular, but if you are going to be building stands and canopies and then and selling them I'd suggest something else. Probably the 29 or 55.
People that buy the 10g tanks are new to the hobby and don't want to spend too much, which is part of the reason they go with the 10g. 29g and 55g buyers want a decent sized setup and willing to pay extra for stand/canopy.

I agree. with magic, most people won't buy a stand for a 10.
I think something to look at is footprint too... a lot of tank sizes share the same footprint, such as 48"x18" etc. if you build for those sizes, you can accommodate more tank sizes.

I'd still say 10 gallons even with the whole shebang.
