Just setup another 5.5g breeder tank. Since it will only contain a pair of harlequin rasboras for no more than a week or so, I've decided not to place the sponge filter (or any other filter).
I still wanted some water movement and also allow heat to get evenly distributed throughout the tank so I thought it might be a good idea to place the air stone directly below the heater.
Is this ok, or is it a bad idea? I know the heaters are designed to be surrounded by water when in operation and I guess this will expose more air on the surface than it would otherwise. Could this break the heater?
