Not at all! They will rip plants up, eat them, play with them and all kinds of madness.

I wouldn't put an Oscar in a 55g tank period.

I'm with Slappy. I wouldn't put one in a 55 g at all. You could put him in a planted 75 g tank though. All those greens would be really good for him, most Oscars don't eat enough greens
