i have only one of these. sorry the pic is not that great. it is about 3/4" long and has no 'door' and it grows really fast. i noticed it about three weeks ago and it was about 1 cm. my bf has named it Epic. just wondering if anyone can help ID it. i'm hoping it can reproduce without a mate.

Pond snail. Exact species, I'm not sure. How did you get it?

it appeared. my guess is it came in as an egg on some plants i got about a month and a half ago.
so being a pond snail it will need to mate to have babies, right? that's too bad. i wonder how big it will get

Pond snails can reproduce by themselves.

A bit of a wild guess, but by the size and tapering of the shell, it could be Stagnicola elodes. This snail is more often seen in ponds, but shows up in aquariums as well.

If it continues to grow.. you may have yourself a Lymnaea stagnalis.

okay. thanks. it's very hard to find pics online for those species but i'm going to look more

I was just going to say that myself that you got a Donkey Eared Snail :D. Such neat snails unsure if they can populate on their own but I have one about the size of a pea and he/she is awesome. Can see all the details and they look the pokemon Shellos XD.
