rent is 400 plus 25 for a cat so 425 a month with water sewer and garbage included all i pay is heat and elecrittry so do u tthink ill make it on 778.00 a month?

Wisconsin... get's pretty cold there doesn't it? Gosh- I don't pay anything like the electricity you're quoting a month and I have a house!

My first apartment- about 10 years ago only cost me about $25 a month for electricity ;) ... (I don't remember exactly- but it was something rediculously low like that)

... rates were lower then... it was SC, so it doesn't get very cold (although it does get hot) and I never had to run heating or airconditioning. I was ground floor- but the ground only went out about 6ft from my window to the parking lot- and that was about a floor height above me- so it was almost like I was underground... (yes the view sucked).

Surrounded by apartments above and to the sides of me- I stayed very well insulated... lived there a couple years- almost never touched A/C or heat... didn't have to place stayed very comfortable year round.

$425 is very good rent... my apartment mentioned above cost me $550 10 years ago (before the recent inflation) and was only a one bedroom.

ya so total id prolly pay at the worst is 630.00 but aint that bad. just have to get outt of our grammas house tho....

So you will be living on about 100 dollars a month in extra cash?

Living on about 100 after paying rent and util is horrible! Ive been there done that. You still have to:
eat, pay for gas, have money in case the gobt tries to screw you over and make you pay extra, renters insurance/ tenants insurance, car insurance etc
No offence, but I would move in until your partner/ friend got some moeny together

So that works out to about $3 a day for food, transportation, clothing, household supplies (soap, etc...), and entertainment.

Sounds pretty tight to me.

Besides rent, every month we pay:
Cable+Internet: $110
Cell phones: $100
Electricity: $60
Gas: Summer(stove+hot water): $30, Winter:$70
Car Ins.: $120
Gas: varies, obviously

There are others (including student loans, ugh), but those are the important ones. I live near Boston, so it may be more expensive here.

ETA: Oh! About $40 for laundry, ha. And about $60 on cat food, but that's for 3.

did you consider other additional expenses that you might have?
food
cable
internet
phone
cell phone
gas money
car maintenance
car insurance
regular oil changes
clothes washing (if you dont have a unit in the apt)
fish maintenance and supplies
cost of fish tank electricity
beer money
travel to/from work

living day to day and hand to mouth really really sucks, trust me i have done it before. make sure you consider all possible costs even unexpected costs that you might experience.
