This is my first time using paypal, and I'm lost.

How do the people of AC normally use paypal?
Is it the 'send money' option?

Does it charge for sending money?
My mom will only use her debit card.

Help?

It only charges the seller and you must register the debit card through paypal

Oh, okay.

So if I bought something from someone here on AC, they'd be charged?

My dad used paypal before, but got screwed over on ebay and hasn't touched it since, the card is already registered.

So all I really need are funds in the account that the debit card is coming from, and the person's email address, and I'm good?
No extra charges?
If I say 55 dollars, it only takes out 55 dollars?

yes imo opinion paypal is very secure it protects buyer and seller and your dad may have been able to fix the problem through paypal to get his $$ back
yes it would only take 55$

Plus because you are using a debit card there will be a 1-2 week period for payment to be accepted on the sellers side. be warned of that... that can screw it all up!

what is really nice is if you put your username and what you ordered into the commment box, it really saves the seller ALOT of hassle/work/confusion when trying to communicate with the buyer.

Also, save all communication, whether you're the buyer or the seller. So save your PMs from the board if that's what you use. Hopefully everything always goes smoothly, but if it doesn't you want to have everything on paper.

I think paypal is the most effective and safest way to send your money to a buyer. Doesnt cost you anything just the seller. It has been 1 of the best things I have done.

yep, never had a prob. with paypal... It takes time, which can be a hassle, but in the years Ive used it, I never had a problem.

And as was said, buyer isn't charged any extra fees. 55$ paid will mean 55$ (and not more) will be taken out of your account. They'll take a small cut off the seller.
