is it possible to salvage a tank with a crack along the bottom?
Yes, very possible. I have had both a 20 gallon high, and a 55 gallon repaired due to cracked bottom pieces. The easiest, safest, cheapest way, is to take it to your local glass shop and have them silicone in a new piece of glass, directly on top of the old one. This way, nothing has to be taken apart, they just slide a new piece in, and use aquarium safe silicone to fix the leaks. The place I use, also puts an inch of water in my tank and lets it sit for 48 hours before I get it back. Not taking any chances!
My 20 gallon only cost $15 CDN, and my 55 gallon was $35 CDN.
I have also had the side of a 10 gallon repaired in the same way. It is only my hospital tank, so the unsighlty crack and drips of new siliconce aren't too much to deal with. I would only ever do bottom pieces like this in my show tanks. Thankfully, must of us have substrate plus other items to cover the bottom, and once setup, no one would know the difference!
good luck! :)

would this be applicable to Larger Tanks ie 100 gl and above? got one of my tank just a hairline crack at the back of my tank right in the middle vertically around 10 inches long. Don't wanna risk it at the time i saw the crack. it's in my shed and if it's possible to get it repaired that will be great
