I am currently running a 55gal setup with 2 jack dempseys, 2 hond. red points, 2 green terrors, and an oscar....oh yeah almost forgot about the synodontis longirostrus. I am about to start setting up my new 150 gallon this weekend. Planning on running a 29 gallon wet/dry and a 10 gallon refugium under the tank, does anyone have any good ideas on things or creatures to put in the refuge to help out with filtration/cleanup. any ideas would be helpful.

I would just add the guys from the 55 to the 150. I would then add a few more cichlids, and some oddballs. Maybe get rid of the hrps. Add some severums, and geos.Maybe you can try a silver arowana or datnoids...

was thinking about an an arowana but don't know if the 150 is gonna be able to handle that amt. of fish, wondering if my load is gonna be a little much now.

I think your tank will be pretty well stocked when those fish grow out into adults.

I agree with vicious_fish, your tank is already fully stocked.
Silver arowana grow to 3' and would soon out grow a 150g tank.
With your fuge i would add as many low light, quick growing plants as you can.

Dats are found in brackish waters if I'm not mistaken and this tank is too small for an aro, it wouldn't be able to turn around.

I agree that its stocked as is.

Thats the same thing i eas thinking, i am getting rid of the red points and maybe one of the jacks, but still not getting the aro, might be getting a smaller gar that's not so big, either way i keep a really close eye on my fish, thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming, any info helps.

Gar don't usually compete well with big cichlids (like oscars) for food. They are better with tank mates that don't feed as aggressively as oscars normally do.
