multi infanticide

i noticed what looked like a multi trying to eat the babies of another multi. now they all have their own, but will they eat the babies of thier tankmates? its a species tank with only multies and mts in it

Usually fry are protected by the whole colony, not sure what the deal is with one eating fry.

Might be a rogue fish, maybe a male trying to assert its dominance? I have no other ideas.

Same here they are a colonial breeder maybe a weirdo in the making i would get rid of him at any rate..

im not sure if he is eating them or not but i have seen him go completely verticle and than lunge at one. id take him out, but hes the one that fertilizes all the eggs.

Sounds more like mouth brooding than cannibalism.

Only problem is that Multis aren't mouth brooders. If there's a fish in one's mouth, it's probably trying to eat it.

Yeah, there shouldn't be a reason for any of the fry to be in the parents mouths.

there doesnt appear to be any fry missing. and if i feed them he leaves them alone. but i have to feed them about twice a day so he'll leave them alone
