Been a member for a while but never posted or chatted, always got answers I needed by browsing around.
I have a simple 20gal setup with tetras/Gouramis.
Nitrite levels have risen to about 1.0 and killed a pair of Gouramis (at least I think thats what did it).
I'm now taking steps to reduce nitrite levels but I noticed something else and I wonder if I should be concerned.
I have a Penguin BioWheel 150. The wheel is very mature at this point (2 yrs old) and I seeing some dark spots forming on it... like rust color.
Is this normal or should I get a new biowheel?
I'd appreciate any suggestions
