I am changing my 55 gallon to SW and was think about getting these lights http://www.melevsreef.com/pics/0504/t5.html I was wondering if they are enough watts to grow anemones and all that and if it would melt the plastic bar in the middle of my tank.

Do you have a canopy over the aquarium, because you definetly DO NOT set these directly on the tank. I have used these in my saltroom to light my fish only systems. I use 1 over my 75 gallons mounted in a piece of pvc gutter for a hood. Works well. I would us 4 over the 55 gallon for the anemones this would give them plenty of light.
