I am seeking clarity? This is the chit chat section so why does it seem some topics (that are just general stuff) are off limits. I get it if its offensive or insulting but If you want to talk about something and you keep it respectfull why cant you have the freedom to talk about it. :help:
ALL responces are welcome.:)
Thanks, Arkangel77
All I can say is if a topic is not family-oriented, then that one is definitely prohibited. If a topic is one that is already controversial by any means, then the staff decides whether to prohibit it or not. We sometimes give it leeway to see where it goes. This just comes down to how it is discussed without stepping off the line.

Basically anything that does not coincide with the TOS:

The two main no-no's are religious or political threads/posts. There are certainly other places to debate or discuss those issues if one chooses. :)

Nearly all people can stand the adversity. If you want to test a person's character, for him strength
Thats a very poor translation...and no I do not speak Chinese :D

Oh, I know. My point was the online translators suck. I used Babelfish and I was confused by the English translations jumbled around.

I made a general statement on a tread in this section about how "WE" as a nation (THE PEOPLE) are very apathetic when it comes to our leadership. We (in general) don't hold them accountable for what they do while in office. That was not the exact post but It was not aggressive or agitating in nature. However it was deleted by a Mod. I was just wondering what I did wrong? Thank you for your reply.

Ark, I know you aren't here to make trouble. We all have stepped over an invisible line at one point or another without really knowing it. Almost everything political or religion related is going to be removed. If it does bother you though, pm the mod that edited or deleted your post and ask them what in your statement was outside of ok. The mods are very good about explaining things.

It probably struck someone as making a political statement, and they reported it as such. And since political threads/posts aren't allowed it was removed.

It happens to all of us, so nothing to worry about ;)
Pretty much nailed it already for us guys - there'll be occasional instances most likely in GCC where a given post has a political aspect to it, which is considered unacceptable. Its really no big deal but we do edit those posts - and thanks for your understanding Ark.
And of course, it comes down to individual interpretations a lot, so definitely pm the mod who made the edit if you want a full clarification of why the edit was made.
As regards what is acceptable in GCC, basically anything whatsoever outside of :
- overtly political/religious threads/posts
- anything you wouldn't want your/someone elses kids to read/see in an ideal world.
Thanks again boys and girls.

Sorry to bring this up, but isnt it better translated to "if you want to test a persons character, give him power?"
http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/414.html
I think it lost something in the translation given. Strength can be a type of power, but I think the power in the quote is more authoritive than physical.

I read it as meaning that any person can deal with adversity, but only the best don't buckle under the weight of having power. Sage words, and intensely relevant to this forum IMO.
