Nerite snails

Hi all, I have just changed my 6ft community tank to marine and my 90L tank (which was marine) over to brackish. I am planning to breed nerite snails and have just acclimatised 2 from my 5ft snail/shrimp/small fish tank. I have just ordered some more nerites which I will put in with the others. I have marine gravel as substrate with bogwood and a couple of brackish plants. Is there are fish/shrimps that will live happily with nerites and leave the eggs alone or am I best keeping fish out altogether?

Don't nerites have some sort of weird larvae stage that need transferring from brackish to saltwater once they hatch.

It will be fantastic if you get a breeding program going and hopefully encourage others with the ability to do so to breed them as well- help to reduce the numbers caught in the wild by breeding them in tank.

What kind of nerites will you be breeding?
 
Yep, most Nerites have larval stage they go through before turning into snails. That's really the tough part.
 
Yes they have to be transfered to saltwater after a certain amount of time after hatching. I will put any babies in a big net breeding trap in my marine tank. When their shells are shiny they can be put back into brackish and from there to freshwater if wanted. Thats what I plan to do then sell the babies after they are happy in freshwater. I have 2 ruby/red spot so far and have 6 tiger and 4 candy on order..
 
Oooh... had to google the candy nerite- very nice looking snail.

In your location I see Stafford. Is that Stafford as in Stafford, England- or a Stafford somewhere in the US?

If you're in the US- I would be very interested if you get some nerites to breed. If not, shipping may not be a viable option. Nonetheless, great snails- and being tank raised is a huge plus for me.
