Same plant new photos, if anyone saw this post before forgive me.:bowing:
The good thing is photos are from today and I hope they show a different aproach to at least picture taking.

do you dose any sort of co2 or plant ferts??

i had my java fern in with .7 wpg and it barely grew. i upgraded to 1.3 wpg, and it grew much better. also, dosing seachem co2 and the comprehensive plant supplement has done wonders for my plants.

No no Co2, just a low light set up 2t8 25w bulbs, in fact started adding flourish 3 months a go, now stopped. The fish didn't like it or there is something with this bottle.
the plants is growing as well as i thought, not looking for fast growers in low light set up like mine.
It's just as you can see the crusting on the leaves??

some of my leaves look exactly the same. is it on all of the leaves?

Looks like they are starting to melt, are they new java ferns? It is indeed a low light plant but with all plants they will shed their old leaves when adapting to a new tank.

The things looking like they clinging to it looks like dirty, snails/shrimp should pick it clean.

Any black spores would be propagation.

the leaf in the first couple pictures is a mother leaf. see the little plantlets?
those will eventually fall off and become more plants. the Fern is propagating.
this is pretty normal for mother leaves. if these java ferns are new. they could also be adjusting to your tank. btw as long as the rhizome is healthy it will produce new leaves. I had a rhizome in a tank for weeks with no leaves.. it now has leaves.

It is not a new plant, over 9 months, it does grow and spread well for a slow growing plant. 3 times the size of what it was.
Most of the leaves have this sort of crusting, not something you can wipe off.

mother leaves will do just this.. they will basically fall from the plant with small plantlets it's fine as the mother leaf needs to fall apart to release the new plants.

Ok, I understand that part, but the plantlets have the same problem.
You think it is normal in this case?
it might be.
Just never seen it.

I have a test in mind, I will add a new java fern in good shape to this tank and will see what happens with it under my conditions.
I might be just looking for something that is not there.
