It says Rena Heaters can stand alone so I have one in my 10 gallon tank. I believe it is suited for a 20 gallon but it should work as a heater for a 10 gallon tank. Well I have a thermometer on my aquarium and I set the heater to 75 degrees. The thermometer read 74.6, so I upped the temperature to 85, the light turns on indicating it is on than it turns off and never turns back on and yet the temperature is still 74.6.
