From what I understand about goldies, they are typically vegetarians and like the pellets, plants and veggies. Out of curiosity, if you had an older goldfish would it opportunistically eat small shrimps or maybe young fresh water crays?

Kaluden, I disagree that these are vegetarians. Goldfish in the wild consume plants but they also devour crustaceans, small fish and anything else within their reach. Any goldfish especially at humongous size will undoubtedly eat the shrimps and dwarf crayfish. I keep only apple snails with my own fancy goldfish and singletails as these ones work quite well in my experience. They also eat extra plant cuttings aside from commercial foods.
Awesome, then I can get some goldies going and then get a small marbled cray tank going and a small RCS tank and can get rid of my extras as well as giving my goldies something fun to hunt!

Goldies are definitely omnivores! For wild carp, crustaceans make up a large part of their diet. Shrimp and baby crays can be great crunchy snacks for goldies.
