I've got 2 hermit crabs that have out grown their shells, where can I get a verity of shells so they can find a new home?

Most LFSs have empties around in various tanks, or sometimes pull them out and store them in a separate tub. Some will just give them away, while I've seen others sell them for 10 cents to 25 cents a piece. If you can't find any at a LFS, there's probably local reefkeepers that have extra they'd be willing to pass on.

Greg: I have lots of hermits and haven't had to buy shells for them yet. They are very partial to the empty snail shells which I seem to have an abundance of. My larger (scarlet hermit) took over a queen conch shell.

I guess I'll have to visit my LFS and see what they've got in empty shells. If you were closer I'd run over and borrow a few. :)

I bought a bag of shells from Micheal's craft store for $2.00, boiled them, picked a few that were a tiny bit bigger than the hermit's current homes and voila. They changed shells about 6 times a day for about a week. Now they have settled into their favorites.
