Can i get a ghost knife with the fish i have now. I have 15 tertas they are rosey, tiger barbs, blackskirts, and my plecos i have are 2 brislenose and one Medusa.. So can i get a ghost knife?

Considering the max size of a Ghost Knife and its predatory nature it would just be a matter of time until your fish started disappearing nightly.

Yeah, I agree, Ghost knife will be quite timid at first, but he is a hunter. Once he gets used to his surroundings he will probly start taking out tetras as snacks. They are great fish tho, once acclimated...Maybe think about a separate tank for the tetras????

The tiger barbs should also be fine, ive got a dozen living with a 8inch ghost. At the moment he couldnt fit one in his mouth, but i really dont see it happening in the future anyway.

The smaller tetras will most likely be a meal however, my ghost wiped out a school neons in one night, and this was when he was only around 4inches.

It might not take as long as you think! The last Black Ghost I kept grew from 3" to 14" in a bit over a year. And to avoid being flamed I'm not going to mention how small the tank was!

I currently have a small BGK with a bunch of Tetras. He'll eventually get moved to the Big Boy Tank when he gets larger. If you want a Knife Fish, I'd suggest an African Brown Knife (Xenomystus Nigri). They have a better chance of staying with smaller fish, but they can be predatory. Their diet mainly consist of insects and crustaceans in the wild.

Yes, as has been said above, the Knife fish can be a voracious hunter when the lights go off, your fast swimmers get lazy, right when the Knife gets active. The end result is a "My fish went missing thread".

If you want a completely safe knife fish try a Glass Knife, Eigenmania virescens. They have a little round mouth made for eating small worms. Pretty much no chance of predation on any fish other than fry.
