:1zhelp:i rescued a very young female betta from a dirty cup a day ago. she worries me because she either sits around the top or bottom of the tank with clamped fins and she wont eat. if anyone could diagnose the problem it would be greatly appreciated as she is a very young female with several years of life ahead of her.:help2::1zhelp:

sorry i dont have a camera but i did offer her live food and i did do a water change today and yes she is in a filter tank. she refused to eat the live food and didnt perk up when i crumbled flake food wich disintegrated and released the food scent into the water.

I had bought a few female bettas that where in the same condition you have described.

They are now in my 65 gal community tank, but for weeks where placed in a 2 1/2 gal for QT. (not together)

If you have blackworms or bloodworms, its a good way to get them to start eating. Feeding them through an eye dropper, and let them see the dropper, they quickly begin to recognize dinner time. Sometimes it takes them a couple days to start eating, and that is fine.

The most important thing is just clean water. My girls quickly recovered with daily water changes. In the 2 1/2, I would do half water change one day, then a complete water change the next day.

Clean water is the best thing you can do for her at this point. Try feeding like Twistersmom suggested.

"Rescuing" fish from "pet deathmarket" may be more harm than good. If you want to stop a corporation from acting in a certain way, you need to affect their bottom line, by not shopping there and giving them feedback on why.

i got a betta from a petstore wot a nightmare i got him with finrot an white spot an he looked fine in the store an all he did was rest at the bottom of the tank keep on the wcs everyday bettas as a rule wont eat fish flakes u need to get betta pellets hikari ones are good but make sure u soak em first but bettas can go for a good five days or more with out eating and maybe try feedin at diff times of the day like one day feed in mornin an maybe another day feed in the evenin trust me it works an bloodworms they love them also well gl an keep us posted

unfortunatly she passed away last night ,may she rest in peace, but thankyou for ur help and advice anyway.i guess it was just too late, but she is in a better place now with a ten gallon tank in the sky and all they blood worms she can eat and mary talks to her and makes kissy faces and makes her feel loved.(wow that sounds pretty good!)

Good effort, sorry about the loss. Also remember that there is clean tank syndrome when you change too much water at once. Try maybe 25% a day for awhile so she can adjust to it next time.
