Can anyone tell me what is causing one of my cardinals to stay at the top of the water and making his stomach look sucked in? He can swim to the bottom fine but always comes right back up

Could you possibly post some pictures of your sick Cardinal?
As mentioned above, it would be helpful if you could tell us your prameters: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, temp.
What size is the tank and what type of filtration do you have? Is it heated?
What kind of water conditioner do you use to remove chlorine and chloramines?
How long have you had the tank set up and how long have you had the fish? What other occupants in with him?
What type of testing kit do you use; strips or liquid test kit?
How often do you do water changes and vacuum the substrate, and what volume of water do you remove and replace?
What kind of substrate and do you have plants or plastic?
The answers to these can help us figure out the problem, hopefully.
