I have been using salt in a newer planted aquarium(been runniong for about 6 motnhs now). I have been using about 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons and the plants are still growing like crazy.
Why would you want or need to add salt to a planted tank? The correct amount would be zero addition.

That's what I was wondering....
iv always heard a little salt in fw is good for the fish, helps prevent disease.

There's a real good article explaining salt in FW tanks.. I will look around for it, unless someone has it and can post it sooner... :)

I know some fish such as black mollies or guppies are much healthier with the a small amount of salt as well.

RTR is 100% correct, as usual.
Salt does have medicinal uses for fw fish but they need to be sick before you treat them. Maintaining a healthy tank is a much better disease preventative than salt.
Some plants are fine in brackish water. Some plants will tolerate a low level of salt. Some plants will not like salt. Some plants will die from it.
Many plants will tolerate salt for short period when it is used to treat something and then is removed.
