I have noticed that after a few months, my Upside Down Catfish have never actively swam during the day, and only come out during feeding during the night.

Right now I have 2 UDCs. If I were to add another one to my 20 long, would it benefit them?

There's the tank in which they are living in.

pH is a little bit less then 7.5

0 Ammonia
Less than .3 ppm Nitrate
6 KH
12 GH

They are more social in bigger groups. They will chase each other, and explore the tank together... if you only had one, you'd prolly never see it at all... so, yeah, another would prolly help.

I would think 4 S. Nigriventis would be perfectly fine in a 20 long with anything else that would do well in it.... There is another sidontis (sp?) that gets much larger that is sometimes sold as Upside down catfish, but the one that is usu. sold as such only gets to ~2.5" and doesn't get territorial or aggressive.

I have 3 UDC in a 75 and I rarely see them during the day (only had them about a month though). I do see them a lot at dusk, especially if I drop food in at that time. Everything I've read tells me this is pretty normal though...

Yeah, my bad.... :) Stupid Tetra Test kit...

NO2 is Nitrite right? All I know is that it's either 0 or <.3ppm

Pretty sure I have the actual Nigriventis and not the ones that grow ridiculously large. I was planning to have 3 or 4 with a school or Harlequin Rasboras and Cherry Shrimp.

Sounds like a good stocking plan. Can you get a pic of UDC? I know it's hard, particularly with just a few. If you can, we can give you a positive ID.
