I just lost my Beta this morning to a bacterial infection(?). I had treated him for ich two 1/2 weeks ago using the recomended dose of Coppersafe which stays active in the water for up to a month. I still have an otocinclus catfish who seems to be OK. I just noticed these tiny white spots moving along the driftwood in the aquarium. They look like salt grains & move quickly along the wood. Could this be ich or is it something else???

I did do a 20% water change this morning after I removed my poor Beta. Should I add more Coppersafe??

Definitely not ich. Most likely a type of copepod. You can only see ich when it's on a fish.

Thanks! I have no idea where they came from--I have another Beta tank that is copepod-free & I use only filtered, ozonated bottled water. As long as they leave my fish alone, that's all that matters.

They usually come in with live plants.

but copper meds will prob kill the copepods as well.
