Ok os in my 30g rcs tanks I have maybe 2 or 3 ramshorn. Of them is fairly old and really big, got him from Arrakis so I dont know the exact age. My question is yesterday he was just floating in the corner, not trying to reach out and grab anything. Then last night I saw him on the middle rock just sitting there, not moving. This morning he is in the same location, attached to a rock. How old do these things get and is he on the verge of dying of old age?

Well I don't pretend to be an expert on snails...but I am interested to know what others think

but it sounds to me like you hit the nail on the head...I swear I've never even seen my ramshorn snails stop moving at all...they're constantly cleaning / eating

by the way I'm waiting for another cleverly worded crab thread...those threads make me laugh so hard lol
the first time I saw it I almost died laughing at work...my boss was staring at me like "What is wrong with that guy?"
someone always drags their mind down in the gutter and then the whole thread explodes into clever "Crab" remarks lol

Sincerely,
Taylor

Believe me, after having red claws as pets I have heard it all. Everyone always gives you that half smirk/wtf face when they ask you whats in your tank and you saw "I have crabs"

as long as its attached to the rock its still alive.

Yes floating, stinky snails, on the substrate hanging out, usually means they are dead. From what I read he is most likely still alive. You could always pluck him off the rock and smell him if you want.
