mangroves

i am really considering ordering some different types of mangroves. i know that red is most common but white tolerates cold better and i live in canada so that's a good thing. does anyone here keep these or the black type in fresh water? or at all?

I got an artifical one from petsmart the other day. It looks great! I think mangroves would leak too many tannins into my tank and It would drive me nuts.

i don't think i mind tannins, but if they make a lot of tannins wouldn't people stop using them in their salty tanks? i dunno
anyone keeping these?
