I am still looking for a 120-150 to come up in my area, but for right now I added a new RENA XP3 today. I loaded it with eihem substrat pro left over from my eihem that broke since the RENA comes with nothing but a few bio stars.
so now I have a Fluval 404, my bio-wheel and my new XP3.... :grinyes: 355G of max filtration. :dance2: but soon im going to take off the HOB filter, still will have 275g worth.
Should help even more with my overstocked tank with 6 goldies of 8 inch max so far till I can find a nice 120+ tank. I will say though, im impressed with the numbers on my tank, with weekly WCs my numbers are still great being over stocked. this should help more too!

so far so good, I think I will take off the emp. 400 bio-wheel this weekend.
with the jet output of the fluval, the 12" air stone and the spray bar of the XP3 directed at the back wall angled up slightly I have more O2 in the water than ever. LOL thats a good thing for my goldies. I can see millions of very tiny O2 bubbles in the water, even more than before it seems like. I need to clean my fluval soon, I think I will look at the rena as well to see how well its working. the emp. would start to show the gunk in the water after only a week.

the reason your filters get dirty so fast is because your WAY overstocked as you already know and goldfish are just poop machines i have several tanks of them and they poop more then my chihuahua's lol :)

I know im over stocked.... im looking for a 120+ on craigslist.... so soon.... the largest is my shub, she is about 7-8 inches and the smallest is about 3-4 inches....
I also know why I see the gunk.... I just want to see of its working well.

Hope you find your dream tank soon (and for a decent price). That'll be a lot less work keeping up with maintenance.

Keep us posted!

thanks I will.
btw, nice to see you kashta. where have you been? lol

Any luck finding a bigger tank?

Craigslist is good, but search local cichlid club sites. I have seen tons of tanks from the GCCA site. (Greater Chicago Chiclid Assoc.)
