I have a 5 gal w/a aquaclear 150 and was on the "general freshwater" board to get some suggestions on what to do with it. A planted tank was sugg.
I currently have a 555 gal up and running but have not tried a planted tank.
What equipment is needed to have a planted 5 gal. succeed?

Seachem Flourish, Excel, Iron (http://seachem.com/) and Kent Reef Iodine (http://aquariumpros.com/aquaprostore/prods/KEN00008.shtml). (Just one or two drops each per day, experiment to see what works best. The iodine is for the shrimp.)

A light that can provide 2-3 watts per gallon, pointed straight down on the tank.

7-8 Amano shrimp (http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/gshrimp.html).

A glass top, or similar means to keep the Amanos inside the tank.

Enough plants to cover the gravel, right from Day One.

Weekly 50% water changes.

A diary of everything you do or put in the tank.

I've been playing with one of these (http://www.thehiddenreef.com/webpages/productspages/jbj_nano_cube.htm). Can ya tell? :)
