View Full Version : What to do
I belive this is a African Green Hydro (Ammania Gracilis) This thing just took off and is now 3 plus inches out of the water. The stalk is like 1/2" thick and Im not sure if it can be cut back of just leave it. Im worried about it hitting the lights. Any Ideas?

this link (http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/myplants/23-African_Green_Hygro_Ammania_gracilis.html) states that it is a stem plant so you should be able to just chop it in 1/2 and replant the top. it also says that it will grow about 6"/week. so be prepared for a lot of trimming!

if you cut off the top and replant the tip, the tip will keep growing up.
if you leave the bottom planted the plant will grow a few more tips and grow bushy

what i do is take that bush growth....trim them all off once they reach 5+ inches and replant as a single stem.
